Privacy & Cookies

Last updated: 17 October 2026

This notice explains how The Fenton Flyer uses information on fentonflyer.com, including visitor photographs, games and cookies.

Who we are and how to contact us

The Fenton Flyer is the village pub at Main Street, Church Fenton, LS24 9RF. For questions about this website, a privacy request or a photograph you would like removed, write to the proprietors at that address, speak to the team in the pub, or message our official Facebook page. Please identify the page or photograph concerned. Avoid sending sensitive information through Facebook; we can arrange another way to discuss your request.

Information we use

Website visits: our hosting and security systems may process your IP address, browser details, requested pages, dates and times to deliver the website and help prevent misuse. We rely on our legitimate interests in running a reliable, secure pub website.

Visitor uploads: we receive the photo or video you choose to send, your optional name and caption, and the submission date. The upload form does not ask for an email address. A temporary code derived from your IP address limits repeated uploads; that limit expires after one hour. Uploading is optional.

Messages: if you contact us, we use the information you provide to answer your enquiry or deal with your request, relying on our legitimate interests in helping visitors and administering the website. Where processing is required by law, we rely on that legal obligation.

Photographs and videos

Uploads remain private while awaiting administrator review. Nothing submitted through the visitor form appears in the gallery automatically. If approved, the photo or video and any name or caption you supply may become public. Public files can be viewed, copied or downloaded by other people.

We ask for your consent to share the submission and for confirmation that you have permission from everyone featured, including a parent or guardian for children. Only submit media you own or have permission to share. Remove location information and other private details from the file before uploading: original media can contain embedded metadata.

You can withdraw your permission or request removal using the contact details above. We can remove material we control, but cannot retrieve copies other people have already downloaded. Removing an item from the gallery does not by itself delete the file from our media storage; please tell us if you are requesting deletion as well.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand which pages people visit and how the website is used. With analytics consent, Google may use identifiers stored in cookies and process information such as page views, approximate location, device and browser details and interactions. Google states that Analytics does not log or store individual IP addresses.

Analytics consent is denied by default for UK visitors until you choose to accept it. You can reject analytics and still use the site. Google Consent Mode is enabled: limited cookieless signals may still be sent to Google when consent is denied. Rejecting analytics is therefore not a promise that no connection to Google takes place. We have not connected Google advertising services through Site Kit.

For details, see Google’s privacy policy and how Google safeguards Analytics data.

Cookies and browser storage

Cookies are small files saved by your browser. Local storage lets a game remember information on your device. The following covers the services currently configured on this website.

ItemPurposeDuration

wp_consent_*Passes your consent choices between website components.30 days under the installed plugin’s default settings; may be refreshed as you use the site.

Game browser storageRemembers game progress, preferences or a best score where the game offers this.May remain until you clear the website’s stored data in your browser.
WordPress login and administration cookiesSecurity, login and editor preferences for authorised administrators.Depending on the cookie, a session, two days, up to two weeks with “Remember Me”, or up to a year for preferences. These are not needed for ordinary visitors to sign in.

Use the Cookie settings tab on the site, or the link below, to reopen the banner and accept or reject analytics. A new choice applies to future use. To remove cookies or game data already on your device, use your browser’s controls for this website. Clearing storage can also reset your game scores and cookie choice.

Maps and links to other websites

The Find Us page includes an embedded Google Map. Loading that page can connect your browser to Google and disclose information such as your IP address, browser details and the page visited. Google may use its own cookies or account information. The analytics banner does not currently block the embedded map. You can find our postal address elsewhere on the site without opening the map page.

Facebook and pool league links take you to separate websites with their own privacy and cookie policies. Contacting us through Facebook is also subject to Meta’s policies.

Who can receive information

Authorised website administrators can review submissions and enquiries. Our hosting provider, Namecheap, supplies website storage and server services. Our email service handles administrative notifications and correspondence. Google processes information when its Analytics or Maps services are used. Approved gallery contributions are shared publicly. We may also disclose information where required by law.

These providers may process information outside the UK. The location and safeguards depend on the service; Google explains its international processing and transfer safeguards in its privacy policy. Please contact us if you need more information about a particular service.

How long information is kept

Pending uploads stay private until reviewed; there is currently no automatic expiry for unreviewed submissions. Rejecting a submission deletes its private media file, although the submission record, optional name, caption and review decision can remain in administration. Approved contributions remain while they are used in the gallery or media library, unless removed or deleted following review or a valid request.

The temporary upload rate limit lasts one hour. Cookie and local storage periods are described above. Enquiries and security records are kept according to their purpose, including dealing with an unresolved request, investigating misuse or meeting legal obligations. Hosting logs and backups follow the provider’s and site backup settings; deletion from the live site may not immediately remove a backup copy. Analytics record retention is controlled separately in the Google Analytics property settings and is not the same as cookie expiry.

Your choices and rights

Depending on the circumstances, you can ask to access or correct your personal information, request deletion or restriction, object to processing based on legitimate interests, or request portability where applicable. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time without affecting earlier lawful processing. You do not have to upload media or accept analytics to browse the website.

Please contact the proprietors using the details above. We may need enough information to identify the record and verify your request. You can also raise a concern with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK data protection regulator.
